PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Information Risk Management (IRM) function was introduced at the start of 2009 by joining the Information Security (IS) functions and Governance, Risk and Controls network (GRC). It is part of the IT function and consists of a central team in the CIO office and teams in each of the businesses and IT Services. The IRM function supports IT delivery and business staff. Initiatives are taken to effectively manage risks to achieve business objectives. Amongst other changes an IRM Governance structure, a risk methodology, a control framework and a compliance approach were developed. There is also now clarity on the scope of Information assets that need to be protected in an effective and efficient manner. In the short term the IRM Function will focus on Business Critical Information Assets as captured in the so called Business Critical List (BC-List). Despite changes in the IRM Function as a whole the changes in the framework (eg the introduction of the ISS) and the renewed focus on a risk based approach more attention is felt to be needed. This is clarified in the following points from recent SIA and PWC audits. deliver consistency in the materials we use for IRM across train IT Delivery staff to ensure IT practitioners have the IRM skills required make clear that non-compliance, especially for Business Critical assets and Key Controls, cannot be accepted. The materials need to be of high quality and sustainability. The materials need to align completely with group Intranet standards and collaboration objectives. This project will prepare materials for both internal and external use (by Infrastructure and Application Support Providers). Stakeholder management is crucial for this project as the materials that will be delivered need to be welcomed by Central IRM, IRM in the Business, IRM in ITS, IT Delivery and other IT and non-IT target groups in the Central organization.
