About UNICEF
UNICEF is the world’s leading children’s organisation, reaching children in more than 150 less-developed countries around the world. They work with local communities, organisations and governments to make a lasting difference to children’s lives.
UNICEF believes that every child should have clean water, food, health care, education, and a safe environment in which to grow up. UNICEF upholds the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and works to hold the international community responsible for their promises to children.
UNICEF raises funds for worldwide emergency and development work, as well as advocating lasting change for children. For example their Public Affairs Team works to change government policies and practices that are detrimental to children’s rights.
UNICEF receives no funding from the United Nations budget and is funded entirely by voluntary contributions. Funds are raised through donations, the sale of cards and gifts, partnerships with companies and special events.

About Peace One Day
In 1999, preoccupied with questions about the fundamental nature of humanity and the most pressing issues of our time, filmmaker Jeremy Gilley launched Peace One Day and set out to find a starting point for peace. Two years on, he achieved his primary objective when the 192 member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted 21 September as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace. This is not only about creating peace between nations, it’s about non-violence in our homes, communities and schools. Therefore Peace Day is relevant to every human being on the planet.
Peace One Day looks to engage all sectors of society in observance of 21 September, through the practical manifestation of non-violence and ceasefire and action on Peace Day that creates a united and sustainable world.

About Grameen Foundation
Grameen Foundation helps the world’s poorest, especially women, improve their lives and escape poverty through access to microfinance and technology. In many of the poorest regions in the world, micro business creation is the only way for families to escape poverty and build a better future for their children.
As clients repay their micro-loans, the funds are recycled into new loans, thus multiplying the number of poor people who can begin their journey out of poverty. Grameen Foundation develops and spreads technology and open source software that can be used by professionals serving the poor to enhance efficiency and lower operating costs. Their technology projects also provide business opportunities for poor entrepreneurs.
Grameen Foundation enhances the effectiveness of funding and impact on communities by strengthening and supporting local organizations. They respect local ways of life by building poverty-ending programs in partnership with local organizations and leaders, rather than imposing external ideas on developing communities.
